Noordin M Top's Death



Noordin M Top's Death. Indonesian counterterrorism police killed Southeast Asia’s most wanted terrorist, Noordin M Top, as well as three other terrorism suspects during an overnight raid on a house outside of Solo, Central Java.

The following is a timeline of how the raid progressed.

Wednesday Sept. 16

11:30 a.m. Counterterrorism squad Densus 88 arrested suspect Rahmat Puji Prabowo, also known as Bejo, at Pasar Gading, Solo.

3 p.m. Densus 88 arrested suspect Supono, alias Kedu. Bejo and Kedu told the police that there were terror suspects hiding in a house in Kahuripan village. The house was rented to a man named Hadi Susilo, or Adip.

11:30 p.m. The counterterrorism team evacuated locals from the area surrounding the house.

12 a.m. Densus 88 tried to break down the front door of the house but the people inside retaliated with gunfire. Police knew that there were seven people in the house, including a pregnant woman named Munawaroh, the wife of Hadi Susilo. Police warned those inside the house to surrender but they continued shooting.

Thursday Sept. 17

5 a.m. A motorbike inside the house was shot and caught fire. The suspects hid in the bathroom while police tore down a wall of the house.

8 a.m. Noordin M Top along with Bagus Budi Pranoto, or Urwah, Hadi Susilo and Aryo Sudarsono, or Aji, were killed as police raided the house. The three other people inside the house survived but were wounded, and were taken to the National Police Hospital in East Jakarta.

11:45 a.m. The bodies of the four people killed in the raids arrived at the National Police Hospital.

4 p.m. National Police Chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri gives a press conference at the National Police Headquarters, announcing the names of the four people killed in the raids. [ thejakartaglobe.com ]
